.TRANSPORTATION FROM TEMPE TO TUCSON:

The afternoon of Friday November 2, we will travel together from Tempe to Tucson. The route will highlight local sites and experiences along the way, including views of the Sonoran desert landscape and its iconic Saguaro cacti as well as stops at the Mission San Xavier del Bac and San Xavier Co-op. To ensure that we have the appropriate number and sizes of shuttles, please add on $35.00 during registration where prompted to reserve your seat on the bus from Tempe to Tucson on November 2 (or indicate that you will have your own transportation and will not travel with the group).

HOUSING:

Tempe:

The NET room block is now available at the Graduate Tempe Hotel, 225 East Apache Boulevard Tempe, AZ 85281. You may access the group rate of $119.00 per room per night (+ taxes/fees) for single or double occupancy until September 30, 2018; after that, the rate will be based on availability. This rate is valid for 2 days before and 2 days after our dates in Tempe (October 31 - November 2).  [Please see “Roommate Requests” section below if you are interested in finding another attendee to share a hotel room with to reduce your costs.]

  • To Reserve: Book your reservation online here or call the hotel at 480-967-9431 and specify that you are reserving for the NET 2018 National Gathering & Symposium.

Budget Option (~10 miles away in Phoenix):
In addition, we have reserved a limited number of beds at the Phoenix Hostel & Cultural Center (1026 N 9th St, Phoenix, AZ 85006); there are 3 beds reserved in the female bunk room and 5 in the mixed gender room.  We’ve been given a special rate of $25.00 per night, which includes a twin bed in a shared bunk room, all linens/towel, breakfast, wifi, gender-neutral bathrooms, and access to a shared kitchen for self-catered meals. The hostel is about a 15-minute walk (0.7 miles) to the light rail station that can take you right into Tempe, within a mile of the Gathering programming sites; note that this one-way trip via public transit will take a little over an hour.  Gathering attendees who are staying at the hostel might choose to partner up together to split the cost of car-share rides (Lyft or Uber) from the hostel to/from event programming in Tempe; the one-way ride should take roughly 15-20 minutes, and cost around $15.00.

  • To Reserve: email phoenix@hiusa.org and request a reservation for the NET 2018 Gathering.

Tucson:

The NET room block is available at Ramada Tucson (777 W Cushing St, Tucson, AZ 85745). The group rate is $105.97 for single or double occupancy, which includes all taxes, wifi, and breakfast.  This rate is guaranteed until sold out, or until October 2, 2018, whichever comes first; after that date, it will be based on availability. This rate is valid 3 days prior and following our days in Tucson (November 2 - 5), should you wish to extend your stay. [Please see “Roommate Requests” section below if you are interested in finding another attendee to share a hotel room with to reduce your costs.]

  • To Reserve: call 800-551-1466 and ask for the NET Gathering 2018 rate.

Roommate Requests:

If you are interested in finding another re:ROUTES attendee to split a hotel room with, feel free to post on our Facebook event page. If you are not on Facebook and would like NET staff to post on your behalf, please contact events@ensembletheaters.net

PRE-CONFERENCE

Pre-conference programming will be offered on Wednesday, October 31 in the morning and early afternoon, and will have a separate registration. Pre-Conference topics and session leader bios will be announced soon.

ARRIVING & DEPARTING

If you are flying to the event, please try to arrange your flights to arrive into Phoenix (PHX) and out of Tucson (TUS). If this is not possible or is cost-prohibitive and you need to arrive into and depart from Phoenix, please fill out this AZ Travel Itinerary Questionnaire so we can track how many participants may require transportation back to Phoenix on Monday morning.  If multiple attendees are needing this, then NET will look into coordinating a group shuttle option from Tucson back to the Phoenix airport for an additional fee.

Below are general times when programming will begin and end in order to help assist you in making travel arrangements.

Tempe:

The opening session of the NET Gathering will begin around 3:00pm on October 31.  Pre-Conference programming will be offered earlier that day, beginning at 9:00am and running through the early afternoon prior to the full Gathering’s Opening Session. We will board buses together in Tempe for Tucson early in the afternoon of November 2nd.

Tucson:

After stopping at the San Xavier Coop & San Xavier Mission while en route from Tempe to Tucson, we will arrive at Ramada Tucson in the late afternoon or early evening on Friday November 2. Our programming in Tucson will conclude late Sunday evening November 4 (between 10:00pm and midnight) after the Finale performance at the All Souls Procession and the community’s post-Procession celebration. Please plan your departures for Monday, November 5. For those who are interested and able to arrange departing travel for later in the day on November 5, we will be joining the post-Procession community clean-up action on Monday morning from 10:00am until around 12:00pm noon.

TRAVEL SUBSIDIES

We are pleased to offer a limited number of travel subsidies to eligible NET members on a first-come, first-served basis to support your attendance at re:ROUTES:

  • 1 subsidy per NET member (i.e. 1 per ensemble member company);
  • Amount of subsidy requested can be up to $100 for ensemble/affiliate members, and up to $50 for individual/student members, based on your actual round-trip travel expenses to the event location.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for a travel subsidy, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Current NET member in good standing (at time of request and at time of payment);
  • Located outside of Arizona;
  • Complete and pay for your event registration before submitting subsidy request.

Process for Subsidy Requests & Payments:

  • Once you complete and pay for your registration, submit a Travel Subsidy Request Form and attach PDF copies of your travel receipts (air, bus, or train). If you are traveling by car, you can either submit fuel receipts after the event or use the 2018 standard mileage rate of $0.54 per mile. If using the latter method, please submit a Google map image of your route that shows the total mileage as your receipt.
  • NET staff will review your request and let you know within 2-3 business days if your subsidy request is approved.
  • NET will issue your travel subsidy check to you onsite in Arizona if we receive your travel receipts no later than October 5, 2018; for travel receipts submitted after this date, we will mail your check to you within 10-14 business days of the end of the event.
