NET/TEN Shareback: Mei Ann Teo - Navigating China

2014 Spring Travel Grant Recipient

Mei Ann Teo (Astoria, NY) traveled to China and Myanmar to deepen relationships with artists working in documentary theatre and film and to further investigate the realities of making documentary theatre in those countries. She continued to build the capacity of the IfChina Documentary Theatre Program by developing training processes of ensemble techniques to create practices that guide theatre practitioners to engage in intergenerational and intercultural dialogue through documentary theatre making.

SHAREBACK

Navigating China is a conversation with filmmaker Jian Yi, founder of IfChina Original Studio on the challenges of creating in a continually shifting landscape in China. I have learned much from his wisdom about the complexities of working in a heavily censored environment, as well as discovering one's purpose in life.
