Advantage Arts @ Drew University

About Advantage Arts @ Drew University

ADVANTAGEARTS is a partnership between Drew University and Newark Public School’s Office of Extended Learning and the Marion A. Bolden Student Center. Drew faculty, with the help of Drew student theatre mentors, facilitate the high school students’ learning of theatrical skills and guide them in the process of creating and producing original plays. Drew students gain invaluable leadership and mentoring experiences while high school participants grow and learn new skills.

The program meets throughout the academic school year, at both the Marion A. Bolden Center in Newark and at Drew University. We also provide field trips, workshops, and high impact experiences. Trips have included Broadway shows and the Langston Hughes Home in Harlem, NY.

During the summer, we also offer a month-long summer intensive on Drew’s campus.
