About Ninth Planet

Ninth Planet is a feminist performance platform based in Philadelphia. We construct surreal live productions with womxn at the helm. Our original projects empower each individual artist through a collaborative creative process. We invest in young people through skill-building workshops and creative opportunities that amplify their capacity to lead, invent, and change the world. Fueled by the idea of creating our own ninth planet, we are here to disrupt how live performance is made and seen, and who gets to participate in that process. We make shows for curious people of all ages; inquisitive babies, meddling teens, and adults who can’t sit still. Our work reimagines what a performance space can be; finding its home in garages, basements, libraries, churches, galleries, and the alleyways connecting them. Our process is rooted in collective dreaming, artistic experimentation, and rigorous specificity. Ultimately, we are a gathering of intersections. The art we make lives in the collisions of dance, physical theatre, music, poetry, and non-linear storytelling. Sometimes an enchanting nightmare, sometimes a saturated dream.
